Kevin Mark Tyson

Speech-Language Pathologist

M.Sc., R.SLP

I’m a speech-language pathologist dedicated to helping children & youth build strong communication skills that carry into everyday life.

My approach is grounded in holistic, evidence-based care that supports confidence, connection, and independence. Growing up, I experienced stuttering myself and was diagnosed with ADHD, which shaped how I understand communication - not simply as a set of skills, but as something closely tied to identity. I believe children learn best when they feel engaged and understood, with play and shared experiences often serving as important foundations for learning and development. My practice is also informed by my understanding of diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, including my own Indigenous and European heritages.

I have experience supporting children and adults of all ages with diverse developmental and acquired communication needs across clinical, educational, community, medical, and research settings. I work in partnership with families and interdisciplinary teams to build a shared understanding of each child's goals and strategies while empowering caregivers to confidently support communication in everyday life.

I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Linguistics with First Class Distinction at Simon Fraser University, followed by a Certificate in Speech Sciences. I then earned a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from University of British Columbia and became certified in Hanen’s It Takes Two to Talk® parent coaching program for children with language delays.
